Roger Williams, October 1635

The Father of our State

This man walked from Plymouth to Providence in the winter of 1635, encountered the natives in peace to claim Rhode Island and establish it as the birthplace of religious freedoms. He then sailed 2 months back by ship to England to claim it from the King.
